I'm a bit late with the newsletter today because a LOT has been going on and it's just me doing the newsletter... I'm going to Orlando later this week to tape a television show at Universal Studios and then two weeks from today I'll be leaving to go speak at a cancer prevention conference in Ottawa, Canada. If you live in the area and would like to attend, visit their website at http://www.preventcancernow.ca. Hope to meet some of you there!

There is now a national campaign to phase out PVC plastic. Last week, both Wal-Mart and Apple announced major new policies to phase out PVC in baby bibs, children's products, and computers. The Center for Health, Environment and Justice is asking consumers to deliver letters to Target stores on May 24th, asking them to phase out this unnecessary and dangerous plastic and switch to safer and healthier products. The organization is providing a sample letter to hand-deliver, easy-to-follow instructions, and additional supporting materials. For more information visit the BE SAFE PVC campaign's website: PVC-The Poison Plastic... * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * NEW ON DEBRA'S LIST Here are the links I added to Debra's List this past week. Washing Soda Same as Baking Soda? Is Arm and Hammer Super Washing Soda the same as Arm and Hammmer Baking Soda just in a bigger box ? BARBARA urethane foam in upholstered furniture We recently built a new house and have killed ourselves trying to make it healthy for our 2 young daughters with all kinds of health issues. We did as much as we knew to do, including solid wood cabinets, healthy paint, hardwood and ceramic tile floors, etc. We also bought completely solid wood furniture. However, I somehow missed the health concerns about upholstered furniture. Since our upholstered furniture has been delivered, our 3-year old has been stuffy with a runny nose, and her excema has flared up. I'm afraid it's the furniture. The cushions are 85% urethane foam and 15% resin treated polyester. How unhealthy is it, and what do I do now???
