Though I lost my mother and two grandmothers to cancer, I didn't really realize how relevant my work was to cancer prevention and recovery until I began preparing my seminar. According to the represenative I spoke with at Shaw, all of these chemicals react the same way. Since this is proprietary information, he could not give me a breakdown of the product they now use (R2X). But he assured me that all anti--stain chemicals are in the same class. He also said that only the cheapest made carpets aren't treated with stain resistance chemicals. These carpets are meant to be replaced frequently/annually. Of this would cause more outgassing problems and ecological problems.
kid friendly cleaners in our home i use as many non chemical cleaners as possible, although with my laundry i have been using Melaleuca products. I think I need to switch laundry products due to my daughters so so sensitive skin. I live in a 9 year old house 4 miles from the ocean. The windows have a some kind of film on them that I can not remove. old crocks: lead in glaze? A couple of years ago I bought two old crocks at a consignment shop, never thinking about the possibility of lead in the glazes. I don't know how old the pots are. One, with a light-brown glaze in good condition, just says "U.S.A. 9 in." on the bottom; the other, in an off-white glaze with at least one gouge through the glaze, has "Western Stoneware Co." on the bottom.
