English Toffee

This variation--dipped in chocolate and sprinkled with chopped toasted almonds--is absolutely delicious and tastes even better than making it with white sugar.

Makes about 1 cup of broken toffee pieces.

1 recipe Toffee
1 cup grain-sweetened chocolate chips
1 cup roasted almonds, chopped

  1. Make the toffee and allow to cool.
  2. Melt the chips over a double boiler, then spread the chocolate on top of the cooled toffee (an offset spatula is the best tool to use for this).
  3. Sprinkle with chopped toasted almonds.
  4. Allow to cool until chocolate hardens.
  5. Break into irregular pieces.
Store in an airtight container.

As long as you are melting the chocolate and toasting the almonds, make enough to make Chocolate Coated Almonds.
