VIP Fibers"We spin the beautiful fur from your pets into yarn and keepsakes for you." While at first this may sound odd, I decided to include this website because it is a wonderful example of how we can make useful things out of animal fur that is just shed naturally by the animal, with no harm to them at all. While pet hair is an "animal product", it can be gathered in a way that is not only completely humane, but loving. I saw this woman on television with her animals and she is clearly motivated by caring. And who knows? This could be the start of something very sustainable. Dog fur is up to 80% warmer than sheep's wool. She does not gather and sell pet fur products, but rather offers to pet owners the service of spinning their own pet's fur into yarn. I know my cat sheds her fur all over the house. Why not make it into something warm and beautiful?

Humans are reluctant to admit that cats know more about solar utilization than they do...The most common example of this involves cats' affinity for sunlight on chilly afternoons. Generations of study have led cats to the astute conclusion that when cold, it makes purrfect sense to expose one's fur to the sun.
