Sweet Savvy ~ Natural Sweetener Recipes

There are now many natural sweeteners on the market, but few instructions on how to use them and even fewer recipes that are tried-and-true.

Having made a personal commitment to remove refined white sugar from my life, I am daily discovering the joys of natural sweeteners and naturally-sweet foods. As I am learning the characteristics of each sweetener, I am finding that I can make virtually all of my favorite desserts without white sugar--and they taste even better! These recipes are "hot out of the oven." You'll learn about using natural sweeteners as I learn.

Sent every Friday, all the recipes are sweetened only with natural sweeteners--including organic dehydrated cane juice, honey, rice syrup, stevia, agave, and more. Some are sweetened only with fruit. No refined white sugar or artificial sweeteners are used. All ingredients can be purchased at natural food stores or online.

Many of the recipes can be used by diabetics, low-carb and low-glycemic dieters, everyone who eats more natural and healthy food, and parents who want to keep their kids off sugar. Many are suitable for vegetarians.

But best of all, these sweets taste great, so everyone loves them!

"This dessert feels like real food for my body."
L.S. Dunedin FL

"These cookies are wonderful! The sweetness has a mysterious gentle quality."
S.H. Concord CA

"Would you make a whole batch of these cookies just for me?"
L.R. (my husband) Clearwater FL

Words of Wisdom ~ A Daily Inspiring Quotation

see a sample

Many years ago I became disenchanted with our modern industrial consumer culture and began to seek a more authentic life grounded in nature and spirit. On my quest, I found many others before me had walked the same path and had left words of wisdom for those of us who follow.

I have been collecting these quotations for over eighteen years and my collection now numbers nearly 2000. Rather than keep them to myself, I decided to spread them far and wide, with the wish that they will inspire others as they have inspired me.

"The daily quotes are an oasis in the grab bag of my email: a moment to stop, think beyond my immediate concern and breathe a bit deeper, slower and more peacefully. I treasure these quotes as a gift that I always pass along, forwarding to people that I think will be a special match for each." L.G. Alameda, California

"As they say in French, these words go straight to your heart. You do not know how comforting and energetic they are for me." L.C. Dakar, Senegal, Africa

"The quotes you send make me think in a whole new light about things I think I already know. I save the ones I am most interested in in a file on my computer to use when speaking on various subjects. I often wonder how it is that you come up with such gems! Thanks for the daily inspiration, thoughtfulness and celebration of life." L.R. Boulder, CO

"I look forward to your words of wisdom. They brighten my day, renew my hope, square my shoulders and validate the gentle person inside me. Thank you." C.K.R. Frankfort, Michigan

Wisdom of Life Update

see a sample

This newsletter continues the subject of nature and spirit. I send it out occasionally to notify subscribers of additions to my website Wisdom of Life, a collection of essays I am writing on nature and spirit, as well as books and other resources that have inspired and educated me.

This website contrasts the basic workings of our industrial-consumer culture with the workings of living nature, and explains how we can begin to reorient our lives to spirit and nature. It tells how we humans are, by nature, caring, beneficial participants in life and how we can understand and apply the laws of spirit and nature in our human activities.

Signs of Spirit ~ amazing true stories about being a spirit

see a sample

read stories from past issues

Every Sunday morning I send out stories I and others have written about our experiences being aware and able spirit beings, and living from the viewpoint of spirit. It's a different orientation to life than thinking one is a mind or is a body.

I see signs of spirit all around, every day. To me, the spirit is that which is good in everyone. It is that which feels and expresses love, kindness, and caring. It is the source of creativity, art, and beauty. It is our conscience that knows right from wrong. It is that which restores health and renews life. It is our intuition that can know things beyond physical facts. It is that which is powerful, strong, and able to move mountains in order to do good in the world and the courage to reach out and set things aright. It is who we really are.

My purpose in publishing this newsletter is to acknowledge we are beings of spirit (who have minds and dwell in bodies), to explore the attributes and abilities of spirit we each have the potential to enjoy, and to encourage open communication about being spirits.

"I read a couple Signs of Spirit when I got my first letter, having recently signed up. I liked it so much, I went to the website and read them all! then I sent the URL to about 30 friends I thought would be interested! Fascinating reading. 'There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.'"
C.F. Medina, OH

"These lift my spirit so much that they are one of my favorite things I receive in my mailbox."
W.O.W. Asheville NC

"Being a Spiritual Being is so cool! Reading about experiences of others is very encouraging for those who have had such experiences and for those who never have had such good times."
S.H. Clearwater, FL

"I really like Signs of Spirit! Being regarded as a Spirit feels so much nicer and puts so much more truth there."
M.H. Clearwater, FL

"I find Signs of the Spirit to be very enjoyable. They act as a little reminder to not get caught up in the day to day doldrums of life. The more one is reminded that he is a spiritual being the more he can cause his life rather than life causing him."
P.T. Belleair, FL

"In this busy and hectic world, Signs of Spirit is a gentle reminder for me to take a deep breath, relax, and enjoy what truly matters. I enjoy the simplicity of the stories, but most of all I enjoy how personalized they are. These stories really happened, and that makes me feel better about the world."
C.M. Phoenix, AZ
