Looking for Shampoo for Dog Dander

QUESTION:

I am looking for a shampoo I can use on my dog which is chemical free. I have MCS and have now become allergic to my dog. I DO NOT want to have to give her up as it would break my heart! If anyone knows of any shampoos to reduce pet dander that would be safe for me, please post!

Thank you, Sandy

COMMENTS:

We make an all natural dog soap that contains neem oil, oatmeal, aloe vera and nettle (for the itchies) - it is scented with bug repelling essential oils. You can find it on our web site under 'Spaw Dawg' products...

Our dogs love it and coming in bar form it is easier to use than liquid shampoos - just rub the bar directly on their coat.

I am mcs and use Allersearch Allergen Laundry Detergent. They have a product for pets called Allersearch Pet+. Might be worth a try.

Can you wash the dog with the shampoo you use on your own hair? 2 simple methods for dealing with human dandruff are to add a crushed aspirin to any shampoo or to rinse with vinegar followed by water.

Our dog had a really bad dander problems and someone told us to feed him 1/2 a (13.2oz) can of Pedigree Lamb & Vegetable Choice Cuts in Gravy 2 times a week. The lamb is suppose to help with dry skin. It helped but didn't completely get rid of the dander so we supplemented with Lipiderm Healthy Skin and Coat Gel Capsules from Dr's Foster & Smith Dog Catelog (2 Gel caps a day) and it's working wonderfully. I am going to be asking my vet if 1000mg of Flaxseed Oil will do the same thing as the Lipiderm since it might be cheaper. We also bought a Doctor Foster and Smith Veterinarian Formulated Advanced Shampoo. It is a hypoallergenic shampoo with moisturizing oat protein with vitamins A & E for sensitive skin that has no fragrance in it to give baths with. The product code number is 9N-33569 for the 13.5 oz at $5.99 and 9N-33570 for the gallon at $37.99 I am chemically sensitive and am allergic to my dogs too. These have helped tremendously. I am also allergic to oats but have no problems with skin contact with the oat in the shampoo. The customer service number is 1-800-381-7179. Good luck!
