Skin Moisturizer with Sunblock?

QUESTION:

Hi everyone, I am looking for a recommendation of a facial moisturizer with sun protection. Some of my favorite brands make these, but their safety ratings leave a lot to be desired - seems that many efective sunblockers are toxic, and many "green" sunblockers don't actually do much. I have found good sunblocks on the EWG site, but I'd love a one-step lotion with sunblock for my face. Any suggestions?

COMMENTS:

I avoid the sun during the peak hours. For everyday I use Tropical Traditions Citrus Moisturizing Lotion. Coconut oil provides some sunprotection. I live in Florida and this cream has helped improve my sun damgaged skin, my elasticity, and dry skin. Coconut oil is also good for the thyroid.

The ingredients are:
Purified water, organic virgin coconut oil, organic jojoba, plant based emulsifying wax, grapefruit seed extract, organic virgin palm oil, organic essential oils of orange, tangerine, lemon, mandarin, grapefruit, lemongrass and spearmint.

Aubrey Organics makes a good sunscreen lotion for the beach.

The best one I've come across is Key's Solar Rx. www.keys-soap.com

It has uncoated nano zinc oxide which I was origanlly concerned about but I contacted the company and one of the engineers of the product called me back and spoke with me for quite some time. He explained that the original tests which caused concern for nano-technology had reveresed their position, both the EPA and the FDA had re-tested and found that these particles actually push against the skin as opposed to penetrating in. The gentleman had integrity and as they're a small company his main concern was creating quality products as this particular sunscreen was made for one of the owners of the company who is a melanoma survivor, therefore the last thing they are interested in is compromising her health. If they aren't already on your list Debra, you may be interested in their products.

This sunscreen not only feels good, it treats the skin and doesn't leave a thick greasy white coating. I'm a big fan. Check it out for yourselves and see what you think.

Hi,

I've been using organic Juice Beauty SPF 30 Tinted Moisturizer. I don't know if it's completely pure but I think it is better than a lot of other ones out there. It is a mineral-tinted moisturizer, chemical-free, and has a full spectrum spf 30 sun protection. It is moisturizing and the tint is very light. I have very fair skin and I can't wear most tinted things but this one is ok.

Good luck!

I need a good non-noxic facial moisturizer. Preferably organic--I guess non-toxic, for sensitive (getting dry-type) skin. any suggestions?

In response to Laurie's request:

"I need a good non-noxic facial moisturizer. Preferably organic--I guess non-toxic, for sensitive (getting dry-type) skin. any suggestions?"

Miessence makes a soothing line of products which include a moisturizer. The soothing line is for people that are sensitive and reactive to things in general. It's formulated with 3 different types of chamomile to soothe your skin. If you want to check it out you can view the product on my website:
www.elyorganics.com/miessence-products/11604/

if your face is dry you may need something more like the Rejuvenating line of products which also includes a moisturizer.

If you are sensitive to essential oils, an alterantive to the regular moisturizers would be the Tropicanca body milk, with coconut and shea butter
www.elyorganics.com/miessence-products/13410/

or the baby lotion:
www.elyorganics.com/miessence-products/33410/

Miessence does not have any moisturizers with SPF but there is a nicely done sunscreen called reflect outdoor balm:
