DEBRA'S ANSWER:

I went to the
Physician's Formula Organic Wear website. I looked at the ingredients and found that their products contain anywhere from 11 to 84 percent certified organic ingredients.

To answer your question, I don't see any ingredients on that list that I would call unsafe.

Debra :-)

COMMENTS:

Hi Debra,
While I agree with your assessment, I would like to point out that Titanium Dioxide is an ingredient that is unstable and when it is exposed to UV light, it causes free radicals. Many companies that use Titanium Dioxide will coat it with something, like aluminum.

I checked into this when I was looking at the ingredients for Dr. Haushka mineral make-ups, they coat their Titanium Dioxide with aluminum, you will not see this mentioned on any labels.

There are mineral powders that do not contain Titanium Dioxide, for instance the Miessence organics mineral powders.
elyorganics.com/products/14141/

Miessence mineral foundation complete ingredients list:
Sericite Mica, Zinc Oxide, Organic Rose Otto Essential Oil, May Contain: +/- Iron Oxides

The word organic on a mineral powder can be misleading. The only way to know is if there is some kind of third party certification to verify the ingredients claims.

Lauren Brooke Cosmetiques is a great line of mineral makeup made with all natural and organic ingredients, and NO titanium dioxide or bismuth oxychloride (which can irritate skin). They rate 0-2 on the EWG's Cosmetics Database (10 being the worst) and are a compact signer. Lots of my customers have switched over from Bare Minerals, as it offers the same "full coverage" they are used to. Lauren Brooke Cosmetiques mineral foundations all come packaged with a mini satin puff for those who want to apply it more like pressed powder, reducing possible inhalation of the product.

I was in Walgreen's recently and saw that the prices on the Physicians Formula organic line blush and eye shadow were basically the same as Lauren Brooke Cosmetiques.
